Description
Tractor development then advanced at a fast pace as a whole range of different power sizes and configurations developed to meet farming requirements the world over. A large factory was also established in Doncaster to manufacture IH products and eventually British built tractors would be built here and in another smaller factory at Bradford. Many famous models produced in the UK are featured, including the B250, B275, B450 and many more. Then the 74 Series replaced all the earlier models and built in Briatin and sold around the world. The 84 Series followed and soon the XL cab introduced tractor operators to unheard of levels of comfort. In 1985 the firm was sold to Tennaco who merged IH with J I Case to form a new company – Case IH. We trace the IH designs as the merger developed and how the new brand then launched new machines in the late 1980s and early 1990s with the IH designs continuing right into the mid-1990s. Finally Fiat bought Case IH in 1999 and now the brand is part of the giant global CNH company. This programme traces the tractor development through these turbulent times and the continued success of the IH name in the 21st century.
